Inshore and Backwater Fishing. Best time of the year!
Redfish and Trout are schooled up in the creeks and marsh. November to April are the best months for inshore and backwater fishing.Jacksonville, Amelia Island and St Augustine locations will provide double digit numbers of redfish, trout and black drum.

Capt. Ron Schurr has been taking good numbers of heavy sea
trout in the lower St. Johns River and the Intracoastal Waterway south to St.
Augustine. He recommends anglers work deep drop-offs, points and docks during
hard-running tide phases. Lipped diving plugs, Rapala “Skitter Walk” top-water
plugs and live mullet take trout. Redfish also are on deep-water ledges and in
the Intracoastal.

Jacksonville Winter/Spring report
Backwater fishing has been fired up the past 3 months. Redfish, flounder and sea trout are very abundant in the tidal creeks. I have been doing very well using jigs and gulp shrimp.

January 2015 Awesome Time Of Year!!!
Jacksonville Capt. Ron Schurr reports local redfish are schooled in big numbers, and believes next week’s new moon negative tides should have fished stacked in bays off the Intracoastal and along drop-offs of the canal. He’s using 1/4-ounce jigs tipped with mud minnows, and reports the last of falling tides and first of incoming tides have been tops for reds in Hanna Mills and Clapboard creeks off the north side of the St. Johns. Plenty of small black drum are available in deep holes in creek turns, and a few flounder are caught with reds, trout and drum.
